Police investigate crash on Gulf Freeway after driver found with gunshot wound

A two-vehicle crash on the Gulf Freeway in Galveston County is under investigation after police said one of the drivers was found with a gunshot wound early Tuesday.

According to Dickinson police, the crash involved two vehicles around 5:50 a.m. Officers confirmed one of the drivers suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported for medical treatment. Police said the driver is not deceased.

The crash initially blocked multiple lanes, including the shoulders and all main lanes, but traffic lanes have since reopened.

Authorities remain on scene and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
