CenterPoint: Power restored to 56K customers following Saturday storms

The utility company provides Sunday morning update around 8 a.m.

HOUSTON – CenterPoint Energy says 98% of their 2.9 million customers in the Houston area are not impacted by the aftermath of Saturday’s storms, as of Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

The utility company said more than 350 workers are responding to damages and remaining outages.

Saturday’s storms affected tens of thousands of CenterPoint customers, with the number of those affected peaking upwards of 58,000.

  • By 10 p.m. Saturday night, that number dwindled down to around 11,000.
  • By 8 a.m. Sunday morning, the company reported around 1,300 customers without power.

CenterPoint says more than 56,000 customers have their power back, that’s about 96% of the total outage.
