Upon arrival, authorities learned that the two children had disclosed alleged sexual abuse by a relative’s romantic partner.

The suspect was identified as Joseph Compagnari.

On Feb. 12, the children were interviewed at Children’s Safe Harbor, where officials said they disclosed multiple incidents of sexual assault involving the suspect.

Authorities also conducted forensic interviews and sexual assault examinations as part of the investigation.

Detectives obtained and executed residential search and arrest warrants later that evening of Feb. 12, and investigators located and arrested Compagnari at a residence in Mont Belvieu.

Compagnari has been charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. He is currently being held without bond at the Chambers County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities said no additional details will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the case and safeguard the victims.
