Attempted robbery leads to murder charge for 16-year-old

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 16-year-old boy is facing a capital murder charge in connection to the fatal shooting of another teen in early February.

Officials identified the victim as Jayden Ford, 17. He was shot and killed at a Cloverleaf area apartment complex on Feb. 5 in what deputies say was an attempted robbery.

The 16-year-old suspect, who has not been identified because he is a minor, was taken in by the HCSO Violent Criminal Apprehension Team with assistance from HCSO K9 teams and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

He has been booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center on a capital murder charge.

The investigation remains ongoing.
