Gas leak prompts road closures and detours in Fort Bend County

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Authorities are responding to a natural gas leak in Fort Bend County on Friday afternoon.

The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office said the leak is in the area of Sienna Parkway and Bees Passage/McKeever Road.

Authorities said Sienna Parkway at Steep Bank Passage are closed in all directions. Traffic is being diverted to McKeever Road.

Hazmat teams and the Missouri City Fire Department are assisting in the response and monitoring air quality.

The leak was allegedly caused by construction work in the area, according to Missouri City Fire & Rescue Services.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and follow posted detours.
