Spring Fire 1953 Volunteer Firefighter, Life Member, and former Fire Chief, W.W. “Cotton” Weaver, passed away last night at the age of 93 after a brief illness, according to a post on X by the Spring Fire Department.

The X post says the former Fire Chief was known as “Cotton”, and that he was the last surviving member of Spring Fire’s 1953 volunteer group and a lifelong champion of firefighting and emergency medical care.

According to a X post announcing Cotton’s passing, his dedication to the department spanned decades and his leadership left a mark that will be hard to match.
