Days after Johnny Ray Green was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexual assaulting a Spring ISD 10th grader, the 43-year-old has been charged with an additional felony.

Harris County prosecutors filed a continuous sexual abuse of a child charge against Green on Wednesday morning, records show. The case, originally filed in 2021 and again in 2024, got dismissed both times because of a “missing witness,” according to court records.

In new court documents obtained Wednesday, prosecutors wrote that Green sexually abused a minor for over a year between August 2018 and June 2019, then threatened to kill her if she disclosed it.

“Defendant tampered with witnesses during the original filing of this cause, procuring witnesses unavailability,” prosecutors wrote.

During the 2021 case, a jury was seated for trial in the summer of 2023, records show, but two days after jurors were selected, the case got dismissed.

In the re-filed documents, prosecutors also pointed to a 2018 injury to a child charge that got dismissed, in which he allegedly punched a 14-year-old in the chest and stomach and choked the teen while the teen tried to stop Green from hitting his mother.

“Mom wouldn’t cooperate,” records state.

In the Spring ISD case, Green allegedly picked the victim up near Dekaney High School in September and offered to help her and drive her to a police station. She reported to police that she got high in the school bathroom with friends before leaving the campus and felt too intoxicated to fight back when she encountered Green.

Instead of helping her, investigators said he drove her to his house and forced her inside, where he allegedly raped her for an hour, before driving her back to a fast-food restaurant near the campus and giving her $10 to get something to eat.

Surveillance video, license plate readers, and DNA evidence linked him to the case involving the 15-year-old student.

Green is expected back in court on Thursday. Harris County prosecutors have signaled they will ask a judge to hold Green without bond pending trial under the newly approved Proposition 3, but it’s not clear yet when that hearing will happen.

Spring ISD Police have asked anyone with information about Green to come forward by calling 281-891-6911.
