Woman arrested, charged in connection with murder of husband 22 years after his death in Stafford

STAFFORD, Texas – 22 years after a man was killed in Stafford, his wife has been arrested and charged with his murder.

The Stafford Police Department said it arrested Jody Johnston (Humphrey) on a warrant Monday.

She is charged with capital murder in connection to the death of her husband, Jerry Don Humphrey.

Humphrey was found dead on Dec. 22, 2003.

“Making an arrest on the 22nd anniversary of this crime serves as a powerful reminder that justice has no expiration date,” said Lt. Luciano Lopez.

“Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and pending judicial proceedings, no further details are being released at this time,” the Stafford Police Department said.
