Man armed with knife fatally shot by Baytown police; mother of his children found dead in apartment

BAYTOWN, Texas – A man is dead after being shot by a Baytown police officer Friday morning.

Baytown police responded to a report of a family disturbance at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Garth Road around 4 a.m.

Officers said they encountered a man armed with a knife who did not comply with verbal commands.

Police say the man then lunged toward officers, prompting them to discharge their weapons.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

While clearing the apartment, officers discovered the mother of the man’s children dead inside. The couple’s two children were also found in the apartment but were not injured.

No officers were hurt during the incident. The Baytown Police Department Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
