The video shows two rats on top of cucumbers along the fresh produce wall. When viewed closely, both rats are visible under the shelf and positioned directly on cucumbers stocked for customers. The animals appear to move along the wall where vegetables are displayed and selected by shoppers.
The cucumbers appear uncovered and accessible in the same area shown in the video.
The viewer told KPRC 2 News they felt disgusted after seeing the rats on the cucumbers. They said they recorded the video and then went to speak with store management.
According to the viewer, store management was already aware of the issue. The viewer said they felt their concerns were dismissed and did not believe the situation was taken seriously at the time.
A Walmart spokesperson told KPRC 2 News that customer health and safety is a top priority. The company says potentially impacted products were removed from the store and additional preventative measures were put in place with vendors.
