Man in custody after crashing car during chase, running over HCSO deputy’s foot

A man was reportedly taken into custody after being involved in a chase with Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies that ended in a car crash.

The collision reportedly happened near the intersection of Barker Cypress Road and FM 529.

The chase began after the suspect was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, HCSO said. The suspect evaded in his car, running over a deputy’s foot and inciting a pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect wrecked his car near the Barker Cypress Road intersection. Four vehicles were reportedly involved in the wreck, but no injuries have been reported.

The deputy whose foot was injured is being evaluated.

The suspect is now facing felony evading charges, HCSO confirmed.

Barker Cypress Road was impacted by the active scene, but it has since reopened.
