Barricaded suspect slips away during SWAT standoff at home along Highway 6 in Galveston County

Dozens of police units and a SWAT team surrounded a home in Galveston County Thursday afternoon for several hours before finding out the barricaded suspect escaped.

The SWAT standoff was reported at a home, just off Highway 6.

The Galveston County sheriff said Michael Mihailovich was wanted for felony evading with a vehicle. The felony warrants were issued by an out-of-county agency for tampering with evidence, evading arrest in a vehicle and resisting arrest.

During the warrant service, deputies received a tip from a witness implying that Mihailovich had barricaded themselves inside the home’s attic.

Somehow during this time, the suspect slipped out of the house and fled.

The suspect’s identity has not been released to the public at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office said there is no current threat to the public.
