Pedestrian walking in North Freeway HOV lane struck, killed by METRO bus

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – METRO police say a pedestrian, who was walking in the HOV lane on the North Freeway, was killed after being hit by a METRO bus early Monday.

It happened in the 10500 block of the North Freeway around 6 a.m.

According to METRO PD, the pedestrian was walking in the HOV lane when the bus struck him. The bus driver was able to exit the HOV lane afterwards.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The bus driver was also taken to a hospital as a precaution due to distress.

Police say all nine passengers aboard the bus were interviewed and have since been able to get on other busses.

The HOV lane remains closed from Parramatta to West Road as the investigation continues.
