Conroe ISD elementary school evacuated after gas odor detected due to boiler issue; no injuries reported

CONROE, Texas – A gas odor prompted an evacuation at a Conroe Independent School District elementary school Thursday morning.

Students and staff at Ford Elementary were immediately evacuated once the gas odor was detected.

The South Montgomery County Fire Department quickly responded and determined the leak was coming from a boiler. The district says its maintenance department is on site making repairs.

Students were placed in shaded areas outside, with drinking water en route.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and EMS also arrived at the school out of an abundance of caution.

There were no injuries reported, and all students and staff are safe, the district stated.
