PASADENA, Texas – The City of Pasadena provided an update on Mayor Thomas Schoenbein after he suffered a medical emergency Monday and was flown to a hospital.
While the city says Schoenbeim remains at Memorial Hermann Hospital and his condition remains guarded, he has made significant improvements in the past 24 hours.
“Mayor Schoenbein is in good spirits and has expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, care, and support he and his family have received. Your continued prayers and encouragement mean the world to him and make a real difference during this time,” the city said in a statement.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. on Monday. He was flown to the hospital by helicopter.
Schoenbein was elected Mayor of Pasadena in the municipal runoff election held on June 7, 2025.
Later Tuesday evening, Schoenbein posted on Facebook, saying he is expected to make a full recovery.
