HOUSTON – A man died late Sunday night after authorities say he crashed his truck on the North Freeway, causing it to catch fire and trapping him inside.
It happened around 11:15 p.m. on the North Freeway feeder off Rankin before Airtex, where investigators received the reports of an unidentified man trapped inside his truck after it caught fire during a crash.
Firefighters rushed to put out the flames, but by then the man had died from his injuries.

It’s unclear exactly what led up to the crash, but investigators believe (based on preliminary evidence) the man was driving at a high rate of speed before he hit the feeder wall.
