According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Benjamin Frakes is accused of forcing his way into his father’s home and opening fire on both victims. Investigators believe the attack happened on the night of May 15, but the couple’s bodies weren’t discovered until the evening of May 16, when a concerned neighbor checked in on them.

According to HCSO, Franklin Frakes appeared to have attempted to defend himself during the attack and managed to wound his son before being fatally shot. After the murders, Benjamin Frakes allegedly took off in the family’s black Mercedes SUV, which remains missing. The vehicle has Texas license plates LPB-2783.

Frakes was taken into custody during a warrant service Wednesday at the Dog House Poker House on Northwest Freeway. Deputies say he was also found with Xanax and cocaine at the time of his arrest.

At probable cause court Wednesday night, Frakes waived his appearance. A judge set his bond at $5 million.
