Driver accused of killing 76-year-old man in Spring hit-and-run in custody

SPRING, Texas – Authorities say a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 76-year-old pedestrian Tuesday evening in Spring has been apprehended.

According to Harris County Constable Precinct 4, the driver took off right after hitting a pedestrian at Northcrest Village Way and Parham Circle. The incident happened a little before 8:30 p.m., and although the pedestrian was rushed to the hospital, he died shortly after arriving.

Deputies say the car, a Chevrolet Malibu, was speeding and may have damage on the side.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2016-2019 Chevy Malibu, which might be more noticeable is chrome moldings around the windows and silver wheels. The vehicle was also missing its right side mirror and has significant damage to the right quarter panel. It was last seen heading southbound on Northcrest Village Way, possibly turning eastbound onto FM 2920.

On Wednesday evening, the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said the suspect in the hit-and-run has been taken into custody.

The constable’s office says the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted a charge of failure to stop and render aid against the suspect.

Once the charges are officially filed, the suspect’s identity will be released.
