Houston-area educators honored at 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards

Houston-area educators and a local school board were honored for their leadership and lasting impact on students during this year’s H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

Among this year’s winners was Abigail Eliezer, a dedicated educator from Klentzman Intermediate School in Alief ISD, who received the Elementary Lifetime Achievement Award. Eliezer was awarded $25,000 for herself and $25,000 for her campus.

Other local winners included Dr. Alicia Adkins of I.H. Kempner High School in Fort Bend ISD, who earned the Secondary Leadership Award, and the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District School Board, which was honored for its work in the Rosenberg community.

The evening was capped off by a keynote address from retired Four-Star Admiral William McRaven, who praised Texas educators for their leadership and role in shaping the future of the state.
