President Trump signs executive order renaming Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge after Jocelyn Nungaray

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Six weeks into his second term, President Donald Trump addressed Congress for the first time since his reelection.

During his speech, he honored 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray.

Nungaray was killed by two men from Venezuela who entered the country illegally. Nungaray’s body was found in a creek in the Greenspoint area of Houston back on June 17, 2024.

Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, was in attendance at the President’s address to Congress.

At one point, President Trump addressed the Congress, talking about Jocelyn.

“The death of this beautiful 12-year-old girl and the agony of her mother and family touched our entire nation greatly,” Trump said.

Trump mentioned he learned Jocelyn loved animals. Because of that, he signed an executive order to rename the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in Chambers County after Jocelyn.
