65 acres burned, road closures in place as wildfire burns in Matagorda County

MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas – An active wildfire has led to several road closures in Matagorda County Tuesday.

The Matagorda County Emergency Operations Center says the fire is burning just west of the township of Midfield.

FM 111 has been closed at County Road 454 as crews battle the fire.

The fire has currently burned 65 acres and is zero percent contained. Seven volunteer fire departments have responded to fight the fire.

People are urged to avoid the area as crews work to douse the flames.
