HOUSTON – Authorities are trying to figure out what caused a driver to hit a pedestrian in southwest Houston overnight Monday.

It happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Southwest Freeway when a driver was heading northbound on the feeder road near the S West Loop. Houston police said at some point, the unidentified driver hit the pedestrian, but it’s unclear what led up to the crash.

The pedestrian died at the scene and police said the driver stayed at the scene and was questioned, but it’s unclear if they will face any charges.

West Park Drive’s northbound lanes toward Fountain View Drive were shut down temporarily as police conducted an investigation.
