Angela Marisol Diaz’s family is making an impassioned plea this week in Missing in Houston, as they continue their search for answers about her disappearance.

With fresh leads suggesting she may have been the victim of human trafficking, their hope rests on the chance that someone, somewhere, has the information they need to finally bring her home.

A Houston man, Krystephor Karvon Brown, 31, has been charged with promotion of prostitution in connection with the case of Diaz, who has been missing since June 30, 2024.

Brown remains at large following a months-long investigation by the Houston Police Department’s Vice Division – Human Trafficking Unit, which has uncovered alleged links to forced prostitution and possible trafficking.

Court documents reveal that on June 4, officers conducted an undercover operation at a Houston hotel where Brown is accused of facilitating a prostitution exchange involving Diaz. Detectives saw her exiting Brown’s car and entering a room to meet an undercover officer, while Brown waited in the parking lot. His involvement led to charges of promotion of prostitution.

The case became increasingly complex as Angela’s disappearance on June 30 prompted further investigation. Detectives say they learned Brown monitored Angela’s movements through the Life360 app, which he told police he used “because she was out making dates and getting money.”

Texts found during a search of Angela’s phone, with Brown allegedly discussing the setup of her “appointments,” reinforced suspicions of trafficking and coercion. An exchange between the two reportedly showed Brown pushing Angela to travel to Dallas for more clients despite her reluctance.

Angela’s sister, Sorangely Diaz, shared heartfelt reflections about her sister’s vibrant personality, describing how deeply missed she is by those close to her.

“She’s the joy. You can feel her absence for sure. When I’m with her, I’m always laughing, and whenever there’s a family event or something, I’ll always want her to go. Her energy, her joy is something else... I miss that.”

As the big sister, Sorangely has always felt protective of Angela, especially now.

“As her big sister, I told her if anything ever, ever happened to you, which I never expected would actually happen, I would do anything—anything for her,” she said.

Recalling their last conversation, Sorangely remembers the moment with bittersweet emotion.

“Me and my grandma were the last two to speak to her on June 30th. We were actually talking about going on a vacation together to the Dominican Republic. And then the next day, she was missing. It’s so strange… we would talk every other day, just cracking jokes. She’s my little sister.”

The unfolding investigation has taken a heavy toll on Sorangely and her family, as each revelation brings more heartache.

“Hearing more about the case… it’s heartbreaking. It’s… I don’t even know what to say, really. It’s terrifying not knowing what really happened,” she admitted.

In recent weeks, Sorangely has learned more distressing details as the case was taken over by the human trafficking unit, shifting its scope entirely.

“About three or four weeks ago, the human trafficking unit contacted me about Christopher [Brown]. They said he has a warrant for his arrest for trafficking… basically, the months before her disappearance, he was trafficking her, forcing her to do certain things.”

Despite the challenges, Sorangely remains hopeful and believes Angela may still be in the Houston area.

“From what I’m gathering, I believe she’s still in Houston. Once we get Christopher, we’ll get more answers,” she said, holding onto optimism amid the uncertainty.

The family’s emotional journey is compounded by each difficult update, yet Sorangely’s determination remains strong.

“We just want her back. Every time they find a body, it’s nerve-racking. We want to bring her home.”

Angela’s family remains devastated and hopeful for her safe return. Sorangely expressed deep gratitude to those helping in the investigation, including Texas EquuSearch, Texas Center for the Missing and the Houston Police Department, for their continued support.

“If you have any information, please don’t be afraid to come forward, even anonymously,” she urged. “Angela is a strong individual, and we’re going to keep pushing until we bring her home.”

HPD has asked anyone with information on Angela’s case or Brown’s whereabouts to contact their Missing Persons or Vice Division units.
