Woman hit, killed by car while walking on NW Houston road

A woman was killed after being hit by a car while walking through moving lanes of traffic on the northwest side of Houston.

The accident took place at around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday night near 15500 Hempstead Rd.

The woman who was killed has been reported to be 42 years old, although her identity is pending verification by forensic officials. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene of the collision.

The 34-year-old woman who was driving the white Hyundai Santa Fe that hit the woman remained at the scene. She spoke with authorities, who determined that she was not impaired or breaking the law. The incident was determined to be nothing more than a tragic accident, and the driver was released.
