A drug dealer is now behind bars for selling a Montgomery County woman fentanyl that later killed her.
On July 3, a 61-year-old woman was found dead at a residence in the 14000 block of Walker Rd. in Montgomery County. Officials with the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) said that evidence from the scene indicated that the woman may have died from an overdose of illicit narcotics. Later, an autopsy confirmed that the woman died from using fentanyl.
An investigation determined that Baytown resident Victor Allen Matthew, 39, was suspected of providing fentanyl to the woman. An arrest warrant was obtained, and Matthew was arrested on Aug. 29.
Matthew was transported to Montgomery County Jail and charged with murder. He is being held without bond.
