FORT WORTH – A man died while competing at the 2024 CrossFit Games in Fort Worth Thursday morning.
The athlete appeared to struggle during the run-swim event and didn’t resurface after going underwater in Marine Creek Lake.

Officials say the man’s body was located after an hour of searching using boats, dive teams, and drones.
According to NBC 5 in Fort Worth, The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 28-year-old Lazar Dukic, of Serbia.
Dukic had a large social media following, with over 54,000 followers on Instagram alone.
After the man’s death, CrossFit announced they were canceling the rest of Thursday’s events.
The CEO of CrossFit said he was “gutted” by the incident.

CrossFit said they are working with authorities to figure out what went wrong. The CrossFit Games were scheduled to run through Sunday, but it’s unclear if the event will continue.
Dukic’s cause of death has not been confirmed.
