Operations resume at Hobby Airport after emergency runway repair

HOUSTON – Hobby Airport has resumed operations after the Runway 13R/31L was closed for an emergency runway repair.

The airport said operations resumed at 6:40 p.m.

While the airport says no flights needed to be canceled because of the repair, the airport is currently experiencing departure delays an average of a hour and 45 minutes, according to FlightAware.

Hobby Airport says all arriving and departing flights have been temporarily paused due to an emergency repair taking place on the runway.

The airport said Runway 13R/31L is closed for an emergency repair.

“We appreciate your patience as our maintenance team works to fix the runway as soon as possible. For the status of your flight, contact your airline,” the airport said in a post on X.

This is the second time since July 15 the airport has had to close the runway for a repair.
