Katy ISD high school teacher arrested on child pornography charges

KATY, Texas – Thousands of images of child pornography were found Monday morning at the home of a Tompkins High School teacher in Katy, according to investigators.

James Paul Stone admitted taking some of the pictures on school grounds, at beaches and local swimming pools around the Katy area, investigators said.

They went to his home with a search warrant after an undercover investigation by detectives with Montgomery County Precinct 3′s Internet Crimes Against Children unit.

Stone was arrested and charged with 9 counts of possessing child pornography and taken to the Fort Bend County jail.

Investigators said they believe there are several victims associated with the case and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Ashley Walker by email at Ashley.Walker@MCTX.org or phone at (281) 364-4211.

On the Katy ISD website, Stone is listed as a Social Studies teacher at Obra D. Tompkins High School on Falcon Landing Blvd.

His wife is the principal at another school in the district.

Katy ISD said late Monday “The individual has not been on campus since last week and will not return to the school. Due to the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide additional information at this time. Please be assured the district takes this type of incident very seriously and is fully cooperating with law enforcement.”

The district’s statement also said providing a safe and secure learning environment remains a top priority.

Stone’s first court appearance is Tuesday.
