Teen killed in gunfire exchange in SW Houston neighborhood

HOUSTON – A teen has died after being shot during an argument in southwest Houston.

The shooting happened on Costa Mesa Drive near Spikewood Drive around 1:40 p.m. and was reported by Houston Police on X.

According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, the victim, who was around 16 years old, was involved in an argument with people in a vehicle, and gunfire was exchanged.

After the teen was shot, he ran into the backyard of a house and died. He did not live at the home.

We’re working to find out more about who was in the car and what progress police have made in finding them.
