More than 100,000 power outages reported after heavy storms hit Houston area

HOUSTON – As the heavy downpours moved through southeast Texas, making for a messy morning commute, CenterPoint Energy also reported thousands of power outages.

The good news is the severe weather warning subsided after 7 a.m. so the number of outages decreased.

During the storm’s peak, around 145,000 customers were without power Wednesday morning as of 5:00 a.m.
