It’s unclear what led up to the crash, but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that deputies were called to a deadly crash on Barbers Hill in east Harris County past Highlands.

One person was reported dead at the scene and traffic in both directions was shut down with drivers being diverted to Sralla and Eagleton.

Downed powerlines were also confirmed by the Sheriff, so CenterPoint Energy was called to the scene.
