Have you tried ‘Butter Funk Kitchen’? Keith Lee rated it, and so did KPRC 2... Check it out

SUNNYSIDE – Stopping by the Sunnyside community, and looking for a bite to eat?

I’ve got the PERFECT place for you to find some bomb food, delicious drinks, and a groovy vibe.

Located right on the corner of Scott Street and Sterling, Butter Funk Kitchen has recently became a staple in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

Manager Aaron Johnson said the restaurant opened back in 2020, and the community has continued to support them ever since.

“It was a dead business when I got it,” Johnson said. “But thank God, we’ve been able to pump a little life into it.”

Historically, soul food has been a cornerstone of the Black community but Johnson says they see people from all walks of life come through their spot to enjoy.

While out there, we met a few KPRC 2 viewers who said they heard about the restaurant from our coverage during the Keith Lee food tour.

The famed food reviewer extraordinaire visited the restaurant on his trip to Houston.

He gave everything a pretty high rating, including their AMAZING red beans and rice!

Unfortunately, Keith gave their Mac & Cheese a low rating. Now, I know I oftentimes always agree with Keith but... after trying the Mac & Cheese, I’ll just say... visit Sunnyside and try it for yourself!

It was smooth, creamy, and deliciously cheesy. I think I’ll be going back for more really soon.

If you’re in the area, don’t forget to check them out and send me a pic/video of your food over at Click2Pins.com.
