Lanes reopen after multi-car pileup on the Katy Freeway

HOUSTON – All lanes are open after a mid-morning pileup caused a major backup on the Katy Freeway at Wilcrest on Friday.

According to officials, 11 vehicles were impacted after a crash on the Katy Freeway at Wilcrest around 10:06 a.m.

Police say they were called to the scene first for a car fire.

Early reports were that one person was possibly trapped inside one of the vehicles and an 18-wheeler may have been in that pileup. We’re still working to confirm those details.

People who needed or wanted treatment were taken to Memorial Hermann in Katy.
