Driver shot, killed by Montgomery County deputy following chase

SPRING, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that left a driver dead following a chase Sunday morning.

According to the MCSO, deputies were attempting a traffic stop at around 3:30 a.m. on IH-45 and Pruitt Road.

Deputies said the driver failed to stop which caused a chase.

At some point during the chase, the driver reportedly approached an already existing crash scene which caused them to stop the vehicle.

As the deputy got out of their vehicle, the suspect allegedly put their car into reverse and slammed into the patrol car, knocking the deputy to the ground.

That’s when the officer opened fire, hitting the suspect, deputies reported.

Officials say that lifesaving measures were given to the suspect who was then transported to the hospital in critical condition.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

This is not the first deputy-involved shooting in the Montgomery County area. Last week, a Houston man accused in more than 20 robbery cases was shot to death by law enforcement Monday night in Montgomery County right after robbing a liquor store.
