Funeral held for North Shore High School football star Jarvon Coles

HUMBLE, Texas – The funeral for a North Shore High School football player, who died in a drive-by shooting while he was at a party, was held on Saturday.

18-year-old Jarvon Coles died last weekend.

His funeral took place at The Light of the World Christian Fellowship Church in Humble, Texas at 11 a.m.

Jarvis Payne, Coles’ father, was devasted his son’s future was taken from him.

“[He was] an excellent child, no trouble,” Payne said. “[He was] smart. He was fixing to graduate and go to prom.”

Coles was a great player, a team captain on his football team, and he had received several offers from universities to join their football programs.

However, he was planning to go to Lamar University.

“He was the type of person that everybody should strive to be like,” Domenique Mitchell, a family friend told KPRC 2 on Wednesday.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting and looking for the suspects who shot and killed Coles. Coles’ father believes the truth will come to the light, sooner or later.

“The Bible says you should fear no man but God,” Payne said. “So if anybody knows anything, just come clean. God don’t like no ugly, so it’ll come out eventually.”
