Man accused of flashing gun at loss prevention team after being caught stealing at Porter Walmart

PORTER, Texas – A man has been arrested after authorities said he stole items from a Walmart in Porter and revealed a gun to the loss prevention team who tried to stop him from taking the items.

According to the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, the robbery happened on Sunday.

The constable’s office said Harold Laygan, 52, was attempting to conceal items and walk out without paying for them.

When loss prevention officers attempted to stop the theft, the constable’s office said Laygan revealed a gun that had been concealed on him in an attempt to dissuade the officers from stopping him.

The loss prevention officers allowed Laygan to leave and he fled the store in a vehicle.

Pct. 4 deputies were able to apprehend Laygan shortly afterwards.

Laygan has been charged with felony aggravated robbery.
