Firefighters were called to the scene and found fire coming from an apartment building upon arrival.
As firefighters began to fight the flames, the fire spread to the attic of the building. Firefighters were forced on the defense to fight the flames.
Because of the layout of the apartment, Deputy Chief of the South Division A-Shift Isaac Garcia said the fire was difficult to fight and firefighters took position on the rooftops of nearby units to tackle the flames. Garcia said the building on fire partially collapsed as well.
65 firefighters responded to the scene and the fire is now out. Eight apartment units were affected by the fire.
The Red Cross has been called to assist the residents who were displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation. No injuries were reported in the fire.
