Cyclist killed after being hit by 2 vehicles while crossing NW Harris County street

A cyclist was killed on Tuesday after he was hit by two vehicles while crossing a street in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. (KPRC)

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A cyclist was killed on Tuesday after he was hit by two vehicles while crossing a street in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the crash in the 15800 block of FM 529 at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Authorities discovered that a Toyota Rav 4 SUV had been heading eastbound on FM 529 and was in the center lane.

A man on a bicycle then tried to move southbound across the street, and he did not use a crosswalk. The driver of the SUV tried to avoid the cyclist but was not able to, and they crashed.

The cyclist then tried to pick up his bicycle and was also hit by a Honda sedan going eastbound. Police said this driver mentioned he did not see the man.

The victim was flown to a hospital and later died.

The other two drivers pulled over and spoke with deputies, and no charges are expected.

This case is still under investigation.
