HOUSTON – Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson visited the Harris County Clerk’s Office Tuesday afternoon to continue her statewide voter education tour.

Nelson’s message focused on what Harris County and area voters need to know ahead of the March 5 Primary.

She thanked Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth for doing an amazing job by helping voters prepare for the polls.

Nelson said her goal is to make sure every voter has all the information they need to cast a ballot.

Here’s what we’ve learned from Nelson during the news conference:

  • Make a plan for voting
  • Votetexas.gov is the official website powered by the Texas Secretary of State. The website provides all voting information Texans need, important dates, what to bring to polls.
  • Feb. 5 was the last day to register to vote for upcoming elections.
  • Feb. 23 is the last day to apply for ballot by mail.
  • Early voting will be from Feb. 20 until March 1.
  • Primary Elections will be March 5.
  • If you do not have access to the internet and have questions, call 1-800-252-VOTE.
  • And remember to make a plan on how you will cast your ballot and what to being to poll.
