HOUSTON – Friday, February 2, is the last day for people to sign up for the UPLIFT Harris program; a guaranteed income pilot program.
The program aims to give nearly 1,900 low-income families and residents in Harris County $500/month for 18 months.
The program is administered through Harris County Public Health.
Who will get the money
Here is how the money will be distributed.
It’ll go out in two groups, through a random lottery.
The first group will include residents who live in the top 10 high poverty zip codes in Harris County.

The second group will come from residents, previously identified under a program called, ACCESS.
What is ACCESS?
ACCESS (Accessing Coordinated Care and Empowering Self Sufficiency) is a client-centered safety net service model administered by Harris County Public Health.
Participants of both cohorts will be randomly selected through a lottery process.
