TRINITY COUNTY, Texas – A 74-year-old man drowned overnight while trying to grab items from his vehicle as floodwaters moved throughout Trinity County.

Trinity County sheriff’s deputies received a 911 call stating that multiple cars were in high water on Piney Creek Road.

Deputies said they learned that 74-year-old Roy Beauchamp from Corrigan, Texas, was missing after attempting to return to his vehicle to retrieve some items.

Several agencies joined in to search for Beauchamp.

Around midnight, Beauchamp’s body was reportedly found in water and retrieved.

“Our prayers go out to the family of Mr. Beauchamp,” Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace said in a Facebook post.
