HOUSTON – School districts across the Houston area returned to class Wednesday after closing Tuesday due to the arctic blast.
Here are the districts that reported they plan to start the school day later than usual:
Alief ISD
Alief ISD will reopen on Wednesday with a two-hour delayed start time. Transportation will follow the two-hour delay as well. For example, if your child’s bus normally arrives at 6:15 a.m., the bus will arrive at 8:15 a.m. There will be no early release for secondary campuses (middle and high school) on Wednesday.
Goodrich ISD
Due to a power outage resulting in a frozen water main affecting multiple campuses, Goodrich ISD will be closed Wednesday.
Sweeny ISD
Due to anticipated frigid temperatures on Wednesday morning, Sweeny ISD will begin after a two-hour delay. District officials ask that if you feel that the weather conditions in your area pose a risk to you or your child, “please do not put yourselves in a dangerous situation.”
Doors open- 9:30 a.m.
School starts- 10 a.m.
Sweeny Junior High
Doors open- 9 a.m.
School starts- 9:35 a.m.
Cafeteria doors open- 9 a.m.
Front doors open- 9:15 a.m.
School starts- 9:35 a.m.
Breakfast will be available for students. Bus schedules will run two hours behind normal schedules.
Sam Houston State University
Sam Houston State University will delay operations and classes until 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Dining halls will open at 7 a.m. Retail, the LSC and the bookstore will open at 8 a.m.
Some districts and colleges announced they will resume at normal business hours. They are:
Spring Branch ISD
All Spring Branch ISD schools and offices will be open Wednesday for a regular school day. Transportation will run regular routes, though there may be some delays.
Aldine ISD
All Aldine ISD campuses and district offices will be open Wednesday. Classes, buses and after-school activities will resume their normal schedules.
Houston ISD
Houston ISD will resume at normal hours.
Channelview ISD
Classes will continue as normal Wednesday.
Clear Creek ISD
Clear Creek ISD will be operating on a normal schedule Wednesday.
Tuesday’s missed school day will not need to be made up due to the inclement weather.
Cleveland ISD
Cleveland ISD campuses and facilities will be open Wednesday as a regular school day. Classes will resume as normal. District warming centers at CMS and SFMS will remain open until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
All CFISD schools and facilities will be open Wednesday and all before and after-school activities will resume as previously scheduled.
The district said Tuesday’s missed school day will not need to be made up due to the inclement weather minutes built into the CFISD school calendar.
Dickinson ISD
Dickinson ISD will resume normal school schedules and operations on Wednesday.
Katy ISD
Katy ISD will resume normal hours Wednesday.
Angleton ISD
Angleton ISD opens Wednesday.
Conroe ISD
Conroe ISD opens Wednesday. School will begin at the regularly scheduled time.
Crosby ISD
Crosby ISD opens Wednesday. Classes will resume to the regular schedule for students and staff members.
Fort Bend ISD
All Fort Bend ISD campuses and district offices will be open Wednesday. Classes, buses, after-school activities and district offices will resume their normal schedule.
Galena Park ISD
Galena Park ISD will resume normal hours.
Goose Creek CISD
Goose Creek CISD will resume school and after-school activities as scheduled on Wednesday. All buildings and campuses will operate their regular hours.
Humble ISD
Humble ISD classes will begin at the normal time.
Lamar CISD
Lamar CISD will continue with normal school operations on Wednesday.
La Porte ISD
La Porte ISD will resume regular operations Wednesday. While the buses will operate on schedule, the district encourages parents who can provide transportation to do so.
Pasadena ISD
Pasadena ISD will resume normal school hours Wednesday.
Royal ISD
Royal ISD will be open on Wednesday and all after-school activities will proceed as scheduled.
Stafford Municipal School District
Stafford MSD classes will start at the regular time.
Sheldon ISD
Sheldon ISD has been made for school and after-school activities to resume on Wednesday.
Spring ISD
Spring ISD will reopen under normal campus and building schedules on Wednesday. Additionally, all after-school activities will resume as scheduled.
Tomball ISD
Tomball ISD schools and facilities will reopen Wednesday. The district will operate on a normal bell schedule.
Galveston College
Galveston College will resume normal operations on Wednesday with all classes meeting as scheduled.
Brazosport College
All Brazosport College classes and operations will resume Wednesday.
