Houston woman’s charge upgraded to murder in fatal shooting of her brother

HOUSTON – A woman’s charge was upgraded to murder in the fatal shooting of her brother in southwest Houston, the Houston Police Department said on Friday.

Yaquelin Artiga-Rosales, 30, had originally been charged with aggravated assault of a family member after she told police she shot her brother on Jan. 2 in the 12100 block of Tambourine Drive.

The victim’s name was not provided.

He was in critical condition after the incident, and he died on Wednesday from his injuries. Artiga-Rosales’ charge was then upgraded to murder.

On Jan. 2, police said Artiga-Rosales shot her brother. She then called authorities and told them what she did.

Officers arrived and arrested her. They also recovered the gun that was used.

This shooting is still under investigation.
