2-year-old drowns in Grimes County drainage pond

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas – A 2-year-old boy drowned in a drainage pond in Grimes County Sunday, the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies received reports about a missing child on Knob Hill Road at around 3 p.m.

Fire department personnel and family members joined deputies as they searched the area. A short time later, the boy was found unresponsive several hundred yards away from the residence in a small drainage pond, authorities said.

Authorities performed life-saving measures on the child. He was transported by EMS to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Navasota, where he died from his injuries.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident and autopsy results are pending.
