Several TDCJ units return to normal operations following recent lockdown

TEXAS – Officials have announced that several TDCJ units will be able to return to normal operations following a recent lockdown.

According to staffers, the lock was implemented to address the recent rise in dangerous contraband and drug-related homicides within the facilities.

The systemwide lockdown was announced on Sept. 6 and lasted until Sept. 13.

During the lockdown, several things were confiscated including a bag of pills, five cell phones, six chargers, eight charging cords, one wireless earbuds, four charging blocks, and one bag of trace amounts of an unknown liquid substance.

Also, five water bottles full of a liquid substance that tested positive for K2 were found within the facilities.

The following units have resumed normal operations:

  • Baten
  • Fort Stockton
  • Goodman
  • Halbert
  • Havins
  • Henley
  • Hilltop
  • Hospital Galveston
  • Johnston
  • Kyle
  • Ney
  • San Saba
  • Sayle
  • Vance
  • Young

Visitation for these units can be scheduled through the Online Visitation Portal.

TDCJ officials will continue to update the list at noon each day until all units have resumed normal operations.
