Woman dies after car flips over in 3-vehicle crash in north Houston

HOUSTON – A 79-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle crash in north Houston on Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said it happened around 4:30 p.m. at 3601 Tidwell Rd. near the intersection at the Eastex Freeway service road.

The woman was traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway Road in a tan Honda Accord. Authorities said she made a U-turn and did not control her speed. The Honda crashed into a curb and a maroon Toyota Tacoma that was heading eastbound on Tidwell Road. The Honda went airborne, flipped and collided with a black Mercedes Benz that was traveling eastbound on Tidwell.

The Houston Fire Department pronounced the 79-year-old woman dead at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is working to identify the woman.

The other drivers were not injured, and law enforcement is still investigating this crash.
