Man fatally shot, woman injured when suspect opens fire at Baytown apartment complex, police say

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police are hunting for the suspect who opened fire on a man and woman at an apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a “shots fired” call around 12:45 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 1200 Block of Missouri Street.

Upon arrival, a man and woman, both suffering gunshot wounds, were found inside one of the units.

Emergency responders immediately initiated lifesaving measures, but the man could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was transported to Memorial Herman Hospital. Her condition remains unknown at this time.

Police said the names of the victims will not be released until family has been notified.

“Baytown police are actively working this case. We will spare no investigative resource to identify the offender and bring them to justice. The City of Baytown is better than this and our citizens deserve to be safe in their homes,” Chief of Police John Stringer said. “If anyone has any information on this or any other crime, call the Baytown Police Department.
