‘Very bright girl’: Loved ones remember 21-year-old brutally killed by her husband in Waller Co.

WALLER COUNTY, Texas – Loved.

That word alone can solely describe how those who knew 21-year-old Anggy Diaz will remember her as they work to keep her spirit alive.

“Very bright girl, full of energy, never negative,” said Diaz’s manager Veronica Jimenez just one day after the young woman was tragically killed. “She had so many goals in life.”

Diaz was reportedly murdered by her 21-year-old husband on Wednesday night.

While investigators withheld specific details about the case, they said the suspect, Jared Dicus, confessed to the murder and described the scene as “gruesome.”

“It’s horrible but the way and harsh and the evilness is just another level,” Jimenez added.

Diaz’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help cover her funeral expenses.

Here’s what happened

Deputies in Waller County said they received a phone call from Jared’s parent’s regarding the death of Diaz at around 4:45 p.m.

Authorities say they arrived at the home located in the 200 block of Oak Hollow Boulevard and found portions of Diaz’s body dismembered.

The residence was covered in blood, investigators added.

Sheriff Troy Guidry said the newlywed couple was living in a small cabin behind the parent’s main home, which is where they believe Jared committed the murder.

The parents told deputies that their son came inside their home and made some type of statement, prompting them to check the home where they found the body and immediately called 911.

Dicus was taken into custody and has been charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
