Search underway for kidnapping suspect after chase, crash in Magnolia, HCSO says

MAGNOLIA, Texas – Harris County sheriff’s deputies said a search was underway overnight in Magnolia Monday for one of two suspects accused of a possible kidnapping.

HCSO responded to a call about an aggravated kidnapping around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies said when they arrived at the scene, they were led to 5815 FM 149, a separate location in District 1. Deputies were then led on a pursuit by two suspects in the area, investigators said.

According to HCSO, the chase lasted roughly 20 minutes. The suspects reportedly drove into a neighborhood off FM 149 and Jackson Road. They then crashed their vehicle and fled on foot into the woods, deputies said.

Investigators said HCSO and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams were deployed to attempt to locate the suspects. One of the suspects was reportedly taken into custody but the other is still missing, HCSO said.

Deputies said they are not able to make comments on the kidnapping at this time.

At about 2:30 a.m., SWAT terminated the search. Jackson Road remains closed. Residents in the area are asked to remain in their homes and make sure their keys are not left in vehicle ignitions.

Residents are urged to call 911 for any suspicious activity. Patrol units will remain in the area.
