Where Houston families can watch movies for FREE this fall 🎃

Discovery Green released the fall season schedule for its annual Screen on the Green series. This season’s lineup included the family-friendly movies “Wizard of Oz,” “Selena,” “Monster House,” and “The Mitchells vs. The Machines.”

👠 “Wizard of Oz”

Saturday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. 

(G) 1939, 101 minutes 

A young farm girl and her little dog are magically transported into the enchanted land of Oz via a Kansas tornado. As they travel down Oz’s Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard and ask him to send them home, they encounter a wonderful, funny, terrifying and, ultimately, enlightening group of characters, human and otherwise.

Biographical drama charting the extraordinary career and tragic slaying of pop singing sensation Selena as her career transcended the Tejano scene that launched her into crossover, mainstream success.

Friday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m. 

(PG) 2006, 86 minutes 

This animated tale follows the misadventures of three teens who believe that an old ramshackle dwelling in their neighborhood houses a man-eating entity that is feasting on the locals. 

🍿 “The Mitchells vs The Machines” 

Saturday, Nov. 19, 7 p.m. 

(PG) 2021, 114 minutes 

After Katie Mitchell is accepted to the university of her dreams, her father, Rick, decides that it will only be fitting for the whole family to drive her to school and have an adventure. However, their plans are ruined when technology—phones, appliances, and personal robots, among others—stages a revolution against humanity. They now find themselves with two malfunctioning robots working to save the world from destruction.
